Deane is an entrepreneur and interdisciplinary scientist with over 20 years of
leadership, policy, research and communications experience. He conducted
PhD research in Molecular Biophysics at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and
postdoctoral fellowships at Stanford University and US EPA. Lead inventor of
New Sky's carbon negative technology, Deane brings scientific discipline,
creative energy and strong leadership skills to his positions as New Sky's CEO
and Chief Scientific Officer.
Michael Ashford, MA
Executive VP for Business Development
Mike has 15 years of business development, project management and carbon
policy experience in the renewable energy industry. As Senior VP at Econergy,
Mike directed the company's Carbon Markets Division and managed several
large international energy projects. Mike manages business development and
investor relations at New Sky, and plays a key role on project management and
finance issues.
Joe Kosmoski, PhD
Chief Technology Officer
Joe is an interdisciplinary scientist with over 15 years of research, project
management, and IP experience. He holds a PhD in Biochemistry and
Biophysics from Washington State University. As Chief Technology Officer, Joe
plays a key role in managing New Sky's R&D, engineering and field projects. Joe
is an experienced entrepreneur and co-inventor of New Sky's carbon negative
technology.
Scott Kothlow, CPA
Interim CFO
Scott is a highly experienced financial manager who serves as CFO of a Boulder
biotechnology company. He has served as New Sky chief financial advisor and
interim CFO since 2007.
Legal / IP
Since its incorporation in 2007, New Sky Energy has worked closely with
international law firm Faegre and Benson on all contract and IP work. Working
with a team of experienced patent lawyers in Faegre's Minneapolis office, New
Sky scientists have filed 9 US and international patent applications on its carbon
negative technology. Advice on contracts and financial matters has been
provided by Rex O'Neal, a nationally known contracts lawyer in Faegre's
Boulder/Denver offices.
